Amanda Hernandez, M.S., is a third-year medical student at the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine, on track to graduate in 2027. Born and raised in Dallas as a first-generation Mexican American, her path to medicine began at the University of North Texas, where she earned a bachelor's degree then continued to complete a master's in medical sciences. She is driven by a profound commitment to serving the Latino community. Ms. Hernandez’s leadership is evident throughout her institution. She serves as class president of her medical school class and previously held the role of president of the Latino Medical Student Association from 2024 to 2025. Beyond campus, Hernandez is actively engaged in advancing Latino health equity through her work with the Hispanic Health Coalition. She received the organization's 2024 scholarship and began her involvement by volunteering at events such as the 2024 Latino Health Summit, where she helped coordinate the research symposium. That engagement has since grown into a deeper commitment as she now serves as a member of the coalition's board of directors. Ms. Hernandez is committed to becoming not only a skilled clinician but also an advocate, working to ensure the Latino community has access to culturally competent and compassionate care.
